XS Scuba Finger Spool for Diving

In the early days of cave diving, spools were not commercially available. Divers used whatever they could find, including empty electrical wire reels. When exploring, divers would unwind the line, and if the spool was not emptied, it would be left in the cave for the next dive. The finger spool is most commonly used as a gap reel or for short-distance exploration. Small and compact, a spool fits easily into a pocket or can be clipped to a D-ring. Holes along the sides allow attachment of a double-ended bolt snap anywhere around the spool’s perimeter to keep the line secured when not in use.

XS Scuba finger spools come equipped with a corrosion-resistant 4" (10.2 cm) stainless steel double-ended bolt snap with an internal 18-8 stainless steel spring. The spool is injection-molded from glass-filled nylon for strength and durability. The line is 0.073" (1.86 mm) #24 high-visibility yellow, 16-strand braided nylon with a breaking strength of 123.5 to 130 lbs (56 to 59 kg).
